Privacy Policy

This site is published by Stroke Action (« Action AVC » in French), a Cameroonian non-profit, secular, and apolitical association whose purpose is to help reduce the burden of stroke in Cameroon, in Africa, and worldwide.

Contact form: name, email address, message, and attachment where applicable.

Online membership application: name, date of birth, contact details, copy of a valid ID document (Article 8 of the Internal Regulations, required for any membership application, as an active member or as a volunteer).

Online donations (disabled at website launch, to be activated later): once active, Mobile Money or bank card payments will be processed directly by our third-party payment provider. Stroke Action does not collect or store any bank card details on its own servers.

Site browsing: standard technical data (IP address, browser type, pages visited) via audience measurement tools, if activated.

Cookies: see section 7.

We do not knowingly collect data concerning minors. Active member status is reserved for persons aged 18 years or older (Article 7 of the Bylaws).

We use your data to:

• Respond to requests sent via the contact form;
• Process membership applications in accordance with the Bylaws and Internal Regulations (review by the Executive Board, validation by the General Assembly);
• Manage the register of members and volunteers — this register is only made public on the site for individuals who have explicitly given their consent, and anyone may request not to be listed;
• Process donations once the module is activated;
• Improve the site and its content;
• Keep you informed of the association's activities, subject to your consent.

Your data is never sold or rented to third parties for commercial purposes.

It may only be shared with: members of the Executive Board authorized to process your request; our strictly necessary technical providers, in particular our web host Hostinger International Ltd. (hostinger.com), whose data center used for this site is located in France, and our payment provider once donations are activated; competent authorities where required by Cameroonian law.

In accordance with the Internal Regulations (Article 5.4), anyone with access to personal information in the course of their duties within Stroke Action is bound by a confidentiality obligation.

Data is retained only for as long as strictly necessary for the purpose for which it was collected:

Contact form: retained for the time needed to process your request, then deleted or archived within 12 months.

Membership data and ID documents: retained for the entire duration of your active membership. If an application is not accepted or in the event of resignation, this data is deleted within 12 months.

Accounting data (donations, membership fees): retained in accordance with legal and accounting obligations in force in Cameroon.

The site is secured with an SSL certificate (encrypted HTTPS connection). Access to member data is restricted to Executive Board members authorized to process it.

The site may use technical cookies (necessary for it to function properly) and, where applicable, audience measurement cookies. A consent banner allows you to accept or decline non-essential cookies on your first visit.

At any time, you may request access to, correction or deletion of your personal data, or withdraw your consent to appear in the public register of members, by writing to contact@strokeaction.org. We endeavor to process your request within a maximum of 30 days of receipt.

This policy may be updated to reflect changes to the site or to applicable regulations.
